Eminent Doctors Come Together For The Head And Neck Oncology Conference 2023 Hosted By Gleneagles Global Health City

Chennai, February 26th, 2023: Gleneagles Global Health City (GGHC), a leading tertiary care hospital in Chennai, organised the Head and Neck Oncology Conference 2023 – ‘HANOCON 2023 – Head and Neck Digest: Connect & Collaborate’ today. The one-day conference was conducted in the hospital’s Perumbakkam campus.

A total of 300 practising professionals from various specialities participated in the conference. This included surgical oncologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, dentists, ENT surgeons, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, general surgeons, plastic surgeons, fellowship trainees and postgraduates.

The comprehensive and interactive conference focussed on Head and Neck cancer diagnosis and staging, pre-operative and post-operative care. It helped the participated doctors contemplate on the multidisciplinary approach to manage Head and Neck Cancer. The sessions discussed about complex resection, cosmetic reconstruction and rehabilitation, apart from interactions about advancements in radiotherapy, chemotherapy and immunotherapy.

The first session of the conference was about Oral Cancer, chaired by Prof Jimson S, Principal, Sree Balaji Dental College; Dr V B Krishna Kumar Raja, Prof and HOD, maxillofacial surgery, SRM Ramapuram and Prof Muthusekar, Programme Director – OMFS, Saveetha Dental College. This was followed by a panel discussion with eminent city doctors as panelists, moderated by Dr S Bhargavi, Consultant – Surgical Oncologist, Sri Ramakrishna Hospital, Coimbatore.

The second session on Oropharynx/ Larynx was chaired by Prof A Muraleedharan, Prof and HOD, ENT, GGHC; Dr Ranjana Kumari, Prof -ENT, Madha Medical College and Research Centre and Rajesh Isiah, Prof and HOD, Radiation Oncology, Unit 2, CMC Vellore.

Next to follow was a session on Thyroid and Parathyroid and this was chaired by Dr Anandhi, Prof General Surgery, Stanley Medical College; Dr Gayathri, Prof General Surgery, Madras Medical College and Dr Shanthi, Prof. General Surgery, Kilpauk Medical College. The session was followed by a panel discussion moderated by Dr Shivakumari, Associate Prof. Surgical Oncology, Stanley Medical College.

The fourth session was again on Oral Cancer with special focus on secondary, primary and recurrent cancer, chaired by Prof H Thamizh Chelvan, Prof and HOD, Oral Pathology Faculty of Dental Sciences, Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher education; Dr Saravanan Chandran, ProfOMFS, SRM Kattankulathur Dental College and Dr K Murugesan, Prof& HOD – OMFS Saveetha Medical College.

A panel discussion moderated by Dr Prasanth Penumada, Prof. Surgical Oncology, JIPMER was the last session of the conference.
